Up to 8 sessions of Physiotherapy for €50.



If you start to experience any back or neck pain take the following steps to get Back-Up:

Step 2
An Aviva customer care agent will establish that you are an Aviva Health member, ask a couple of questions and book a triage assessment with your dedicated clinical case manager at a time that is convenient for you.

Step 3

Your Back-Up clinical case manager will assess your symptoms and advise a personalised treatment plan to help you feel great again.  The Aviva Back-Up service is designed to provide treatment and rehabilitation programmes through a combination of physiotherapist visits, if clinically appropriate, and self-help exercises as required.  You will be assigned a dedicated clinical case manager who will monitor your progress throughout the programme with the aim of reducing pain or discomfort and getting you back to normal as quickly as possible.  So if you start to experience any back or neck pain.


Terms & Conditions

Aviva Back-Up is available to all existing Aviva Health members over 18 years of age on all hospital and combined plans. 
There are no waiting periods to avail of this benefit.  Aviva Back-Up is provided by Health & Case Management Ltd (HCML).  Physiotherapy, if required, will be provided by a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists who is registered with Aviva Back-Up.

There is no cost to the member at the first physiotherapy assessment, however, should the member require physiotherapy treatment, a one-off contribution of €50 towards the cost of physiotherapy for the duration of the entire personalised treatment programme is paid by the member directly to the physiotherapist on completion of their first physiotherapy session.
Up to a maximum of 8 physiotherapy sessions as clinically appropriate is permitted per personalised treatment programme, any additional physiotherapy will require pre-approval from Aviva. 
This €50 payment is to ensure members commit fully to the Back-Up personalised treatment programme.  Back-Up is limited to two personalised physiotherapy treatment programmes per year, further personalised physiotherapy treatment programmes within a 12 month period will require pre-approval from Aviva. 
Member case notes can be provided to members GP subject to member request.

A personalised treatment programme that is deemed clinically appropriate is defined as the duration from when the individual member’s case is opened to when it is closed by HCML.

Back-Up is not available on day to day only plans. 
Some members may be able to claim back as per the cover on their plan part of the €50 fee towards physiotherapy cost depending on their plan.
